BIO-CLEAN was born out of a factory automation production engineering company in 1995 and started introducing modern automatic industrial washing plant into manufacturers changing from outlawed solvents to aqueous cleaning and degreasing. It became apparent in the early nineties that the UK and Europe were not ready and had not developed good enough chemical products to meet the cleaning specifications that complied with all the safety and high-tech performance requirements for the future.
After detailed international research conducted by Lawrie Baggs the Brulin company came into focus in the United States as the company winning the aerospace cleaning technology race and most committed to this industrial manufacturing sector. Following visits, training, cooperation, and agreement in Indianapolis, Brulin invited Bio-Clean to represent them in the UK and Ireland. The “Story” started with a full undertaking of the work needed in the UK to educate and develop within industry the new aqueous cleaning sciences that production manufacturers needed to learn about and invest. Legislative Solvent Changeout deadlines were set for the UK in the mid-nineties to stop the use of Trichloroethylene and Trichloroethane. Our roadshow travelled the UK using a fully engineered trailer demonstration and test unit that was taken from factory to factory within major OEMs to run full size live demonstrations and laboratory testing. The next few years proved critical to our countries manufacturers, after a lot of scientific testing and development work aqueous product approvals started to be registered by the main OEM businesses and their sub-contractors who desperately needed to use new specialty chemical aqueous cleaning products that were gaining approval. A lot of marketing and technical seminars ensued, given to factory technical staff so as to understand the decisions that needed to be taken and change projects implemented. After 25 years stealthy growth we now move into the very special safe solvent era so in parallel to Aqueous are investing in new Safe Solvent vapour degreasing chemicals for very special applications. Currently we guarantee to continuously provide our customers directly and indirectly through the supply chain with the best technical parts cleaning products and processes in the world. |
Brulin has a rich history in research and development of specialty chemicals over nine decades. In the 1980’s Brulin chemists were developing and testing new science in chemical aqueous industrial precision parts cleaning processes desperately required to replace ozone depleting solvents used in parts degreasing.
The worlds technical race was on to establish the best aqueous cleaners to solve the major problem manufacturing was facing as old-style solvent degreasing was phased out by new environmental legislation. Very soon Brulin scientists were working with NASA and other leading space and aerospace organisations to establish both environmentally safe as well as metallurgically safe parts cleaners. Brulin had a significant input into the safety of implementing aqueous cleaning for NASA reusable booster rockets receiving award for contributing to astronaut safety and now much more is being achieved in the global space programme. Conformance testing of the new aqueous products by an independent ASTM test laboratory providing assurance for the large OEM’s searching ultimately for the best and safest performing aqueous cleaning products in the world. Major aerospace and world premium OEM’s have taken the independent test data and provided many approvals for using Brulin’s mainstream products for use in their factory’s and sub-contractor’s factory’s to use them safely on their parts. The science led to the establishment of two distinct scientific aqueous cleaning processes for maximum performance under the Brand name AquaVantage®.
Brulin is a world leader in developing innovative and effective solutions for the present and the future. Having stood the test of time they stand for so much more. It all starts and stops with the highest quality scientific products and processes delivered with the highest amount of care and attention from their team. |
Together we provide your optimum parts cleaning solutions.
MEET THE BIO-CLEAN TEAM
Lawrie Baggs – Managing Director
With a distinguished career in automated production engineering, design and management, Lawrie Baggs formed Bio-Clean in January 1995 to fulfil the needs of the leading United Kingdom OEMs required to transform parts degreasing to meet new strict environmental laws. Old traditional solvent degreasing chemicals were outlawed during the nineties and needed to be superseded by revolutionary modern cleaning solutions. Accurately manufactured high-quality production components made by new modern machine tools had to be precision cleaned better and more safely. Working closely with top innovators in the US he brought new world class technologies to the UK. Developments in space rocketry and global aircraft safety being paramount, new science parts cleaning technologies was a significant introduction to our UK manufacturing base. The future of Bio-Clean is now well established and on course to provide the world’s best-in-class cleaning processes available here in the UK and Ireland supporting manufacturers to produce cleaned components that meet all quality, approval, and conformance requirements in leading industries. |
Nick Baker – Operations Director
